Reviews of Highland Muse!

"Highland Muse is a short enjoyable journey with the Muse of Tragedy Melpomene and the object of her affections, Rowan. Dionysus interruptions at inappropriate moments adds some humor to the mixture. The thrusting of Greek gods into Scotland would at first seem like it would be jarring but it works. Melpomene's certainty that Rowan is her true love and Rowan's denial, despite his obvious attraction to her makes good tension." - Simply Romance Reviews

“Fast-paced action mixed with smart and sexy humor, Highland Muse tickles the soul and keeps you turning pages. Purington puts a fresh spin on the Gods of Olympus and undeniably leaves you wanting more.” – Rynne Raines, author of REFLECTIONS

Rowan Stewart is everything a Highlander should be, loyal, sexy, brave and proud to a fault. Melpomene is everything a man could want in a woman, beautiful, resilient, loving and willing to do anything for him.

So why doesn’t Rowan see that?

After taking an arrow meant for The Queen of Scots, Rowan wakes up to find Melpomene standing over him. She claims to be his muse, and explains that she’s been with him since he was a boy. And with him is where “her heart lies.”

Rowan has no idea who she is. Confused, he thinks its best to keep her at a distance. It isn’t until they are transported back to Scotland, by the fury of another God that he begins to understand that she’s told the truth.

Melpomene is determined to make him love her. Even if she has to defy her father, and give up everything. Give up her life as she knows it.

But what will it take to make Rowan see that she is his destined LOVE? Certain death?

Just as Rowan starts to realize that Melpomene is the woman for him, a secret, one that will tear them apart forever, comes to light. This is a secret so explosive that not even her Godly powers can fix.

So, will Rowan put loyalty and honor before love? Or will Melpomene decide that being mortal is too much of a sacrifice to make for any man?? Because what else would befall the Muse of Tragedy?

You’ll have to read to find out!

Author Sky Purington writes with a poetic flair that brings her story and the wilds of Scotland to life!

I give this story **** 4 stars!!!

Highland Lassies Reviews

Rowan Stewart never expected to meet the love of his life in such an unconventional manner. A warrior in Mary Queen of Scots’ army, he spent his days serving her with loyalty and honor. A man who would do anything to protect his Queen, he discovers her without protection during battle. He is a hero willing to pay the ultimate price. Death on the battlefield is not uncommon. Until 13 May 1568, Battle of Langside, Scotland. Valiant to the end, Rowan saves his Queen—only to discover a meddlesome woman in the afterlife. Or does he?

I love a story with unexpected twists, striking dialogue and happily ever after endings. Sky Purington’s Highland Muse kept me guessing toward that happy ending. A pleasure to read, I enjoyed revisiting the Greek gods and Muses. I laughed, worried and pondered over Rowan’s experiences with his muse, Melpomene. Ms. Purington wove together the greatness of Scottish highlanders and Greek gods with seamless believability.

Muse Melpomene’s persistence in wooing Rowan endeared her to me. I enjoyed their escapades; fighting the hell hound, cliff climbing, all interlaced with great sexual tension. I highly recommend anyone interested in the magic of fantasy to read Highland Muse.
